Responsibilities

Customer Service

· Set an example of friendliness and courtesy for all workers

· Establish customer service as the first priority

· Answer customer questions and/or complaints completely and courteously, or take the questioner to the appropriate person who will provide the answer

· Promote membership to non-members

· Provide a welcoming atmosphere for all customers

Member/Customer Education

· Provide information on organic/sustainable agriculture through the creation of seminars, store signage, print and social media

· Give information on food production and the implications and consequences of consumer’s food choices through the facilitation of seminars, store signage, print and social media

· Develop ongoing classes in “How to Shop the Co-op”. This should include special store tours like Gluten Free, Eating on a Budget, Vegan vs. vegetarian, Food Trends – Paleo – Raw, etc.

· Work with outside vendors/educators to coordinate the development and implementation of cooperative education programs.

· Develop and coordinate ongoing programing for cooking and educational classes for our Educational Center

· Help with planning the store demo program. This includes working with Merchandising Manager, demo person, marketing staff and Department Managers to educate through the demo program with menus, special educational flyers and more.

· Maintain member bulletin board, news rack and NCG brochures in the store and in the Educational Center.

· Handle all volunteer/class leader schedules and keep track of gift card payments with reports due to Finance

· Promotions support: Assists in setting up aesthetically pleasing displays in the store for promotional items/cause promotions

· Assists and collaborates in the creation and dissemination of outbound content through social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.)

Written Communications

· Write a monthly “The Healthy Alternative” article pertaining to product education and nutrition

· Provide educational content for weekly in-house email newsletter and Ever’man website.

· Be a regular contributor of articles about healthy eating, wellness and sustainability for local publications, such as Bella magazine, Pensacola News Journal and Downtown Crowd

· Seek out local blogs and other publications to write for in order to reach out to more of the community.

All Staff Duties

  • Answer and route phone calls; take messages when needed.
  • Perform other tasks assigned.
  • Help customers on the floor to find products and get help with bulk bins or other products/foods.
  • Attend meetings as scheduled.
  • Perform any other tasks assigned by management.

Job Qualifications

  • Verbal communication skills: good listening, gives clear instructions, ability to work in a public forum.
  • Excellent written communications skills. Adept at spelling, grammar, and rules of composition.
  • Knowledge of diets and styles of cooking

· Prefer some knowledge of vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, food allergies, etc.

· Knowledge of organic, natural and whole foods.

· Ability to self-audit all work.

· PC Windows environment: Proficient in word-processing, spreadsheet applications (Word and Excel 2007 or higher).

  • General knowledge of social networking.

· High School Diploma or GED.

· Food Safety or Food Manager Certificate preferred.

· Prefer some culinary experience, such as: cooking classes, chef school, cooking and/or serving in a restaurant or deli.

· Must be flexible; ability to work afternoons, evenings and weekends.

· Ability to stand for extended periods.

Pay: $12.00 – $16.15 per hour
