ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW:

Food For Thought is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization based in Santa Rosa Beach, FL that provides backpacks filled with healthy, easy to prepare food for students who are dependent on free or reduced school meals. Our goal is to support a child’s development and educational experience by bridging the gap between school meals during weekends and holiday breaks. Food For Thought has been working to fight child hunger since 2010, and currently serves 34 schools in Walton and Okaloosa Counties, providing backpacks for 3,400 students each week.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Social Media and Marketing Specialist is responsible for the social media, email blasts, graphics and other public communication for the organization. Throughout the year, this position is also responsible for assisting the CEO in the planning, execution and follow-up associated with all the Organization’s functions, fundraising events & campaigns and producing the annual report.

Required Skills and Functions

  • Create and maintain an impactful social media focus & content for all channels
  • Create and distribute effective email blasts through the year
  • Create and distribute informative quarterly volunteer and general newsletters
  • Navigate current tools and serve as expert within Neon, Canva, MailChimp and Social Media
  • Present new tools as needed
  • Present quarterly impact reports for campaigns and social media efforts
  • Supports all fundraising events and development efforts and follow
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed
  • Supports the Programs throughout the year as needed

SCHEDULE AND AVAILABILITY:

Employees may be required to attend events and/or be available to work days, nights, weekends and holidays to meet the needs of the Organization.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to make quick and accurate decisions are essential. Positive and outgoing personality is a must. Must have a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and social media networks.

Conditions of Work:

While performing the duties of this position, the employee may be exposed to the elements including wet and/or humid conditions, extreme heat, and rain. This position requires travel within the service areas of the organization and requires the employee the regularly drive a company vehicle. Employees are frequently required to use climb, sit, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Employees must regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
