Manages all aspects of the FSU Libraries Digital Media Studio and digital media program. Supports GEOSET mission to support STEM research and academic excellence through student and research-focused digital media outreach to advance intellectual discovery.

Manages the day to day operations of the Digital Media Studio and library spaces. Oversees project management for all projects and collaborations, including staffing and filming events off-site, evenings, and/or weekends. Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate full-time and/or part-time staff. Manage, monitor, and provide technical support and troubleshooting for all studio equipment and spaces, including equipment used for filming on location.

Develop the Digital Media Studio’s services as a complementary and distinctive resource for the campus community in alignment with the GEOSET mission. Establish and strengthen partnerships with stakeholders across campus, including FSU’s Graduate School, Office of Research, academic departments and others. Design, develop, and implement strategic goals, processes, policies, and procedures for GEOSET, including programmatic evaluation.

Design, develop, and implement strategic goals, processes, policies, and procedures for the Digital Media Studio, including programmatic evaluation. Coordinates with Technology and Digital Scholarship (TADS) to support user-facing, technology-enhanced spaces. Collaborates across the Libraries to support accessibility and inclusion goals for library services.

Provides comprehensive media production support, including intake, consultations, on- and off-site recording and streaming, video editing, post-production, and assessment of project outcomes. Supports the development of video, animation, and other audio-visual media resources for the library and other partners through consultation. Develops innovative initiatives in support of Library, GEOSET, and partner goals and objectives.

Design and implement outreach, marketing, and other promotional efforts in support of the Digital Media Studio. Design and deliver workshops and/or trainings for Libraries and campus constituents in conjunction with the library’s technology teams.

Participate in Library and campus committees. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

 

Bachelor’s degree and four years experience or a high school diploma or equivalent and eight years of experience. (Note: or a combination of post high school education and experience equal to eight years.)

Current experience with and working technical knowledge of digital media and multimedia production equipment and software, such as Adobe Creative Cloud, Final Cut Pro X, iMovie, digital video cameras, DSLR cameras, and audio recording equipment, and other open source platforms.

Demonstrated experience in media production workflows, including managing timelines, storyboarding, development, and evaluation.

Ability to effectively communicate with various online communication & collaboration tools and virtual platforms.

Knowledge of the basic policies and practices of library services.

Knowledge of trends, best practices, tools, and technologies related to accessibility services and/or inclusive design.

Experience in teaching technical information and software and technology programs and skills to technical and non-technical users through development of user guides, online tutorials, and provision of training and workshops.

Demonstrated ability to work independently and to collaborate effectively with staff, faculty and students at all levels to promote teamwork, equality, diversity, and inclusiveness within the Libraries and the campus.

Flexibility in adapting to changing organizational priorities and technological environments.

Experience in thoughtfully managing and supporting full- and part-time staff.

Experience with live streaming software and recording events.

Preferred

Experience in the field of library services or education or digital media services

Experience in web design and development, specifically with Drupal CMS.

Experience managing a digital media or similar studio or space.

Experience in troubleshooting problems with and maintaining digital media equipment

Experience working with 3D modeling and animation software, such as Blender, FreeCad, Adobe Animate, and Adobe AfterEffects

Experience in using virtual reality creation software, such as Unity or Unreal Engine 4
