Responsibilities
- Create college-specific social media channels within each available platform to increase the visibility of the college’s social content.
- Collaborate with college faculty and staff to generate, edit, publish, and share daily and/or weekly content that builds meaningful connections with our targeted audiences.
- Create, manage, and maintain high quality and socially responsible content for social media.
- Moderate all user-generated content and messaging when appropriate and in consultation with assigned college staff.
- Attend on-campus events and activities, as needed, to provide social media coverage, which may include live streams and stories; take photographs and videos for social media posts.
- Create an editorial calendar for content scheduling to inform our audiences of important university and college-related dates, deadlines, and events.
- Collaborate with departments and programs to manage the college’s online identity, identify key stakeholders, and coordinate actions.
- Stay up to date with the latest social media trends and platform updates to ensure content is relevant and appealing.
- Understand how each social media channel works, optimizing traffic, and relevant conversations on behalf of the college.
- Review social media analytics to understand best practices in the industry and to continuously optimize the college’s social media presence; solicit student, faculty, and staff insight into relevant topics and content.
- Maintain the highest level of professionalism and integrity when posting any messaging or images to the college’s social media.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalency.
- Currently enrolled FSU Panama City student (all majors welcome) with a minimum of 2.8 FSU CUM GPA.
- Must have at least one semester completed at FSU
- Ability to work in part-time status, 10-15 hours a week
- Ability to work both in-person (on-campus) and remotely
- Strong proofreading/editing skills with careful attention to accuracy and detail
- Demonstrated experience and knowledge in utilizing social media for professional networking purposes
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
- Strong organizational, prioritization and time management skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Other Information
The Student Social Media Specialist is a part-time student employment opportunity.The specialist will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining a social media presence for the College of Applied Studies. The specialist is also responsible for attracting and interacting with virtual community users such as prospective students, current students, alumni, and the community. The candidate should possess a strong work ethic, be passionate about promoting the college, and exhibit strong interpersonal communication and collaboration skills.

Anticipated Salary Range
This postiion will pay $12-$14/hr.

Criminal Background Check
This position requires successful completion of a criminal history background check. The background check will be conducted as authorized and in accordance with University Policy 4-OP-C-7-B11.
