HIRING SALARY: Anticipated salary between $30,000.00 and $36,000.00 annually

MAJOR FUNCTION: The Graphic Designer position is housed within the Communications and Marketing Division and will report to the Director of Integrated Marketing. The Graphic Designer will work with the Director of Integrated Marketing and the Director of Strategic Communications to schedule projects from conception to production to make sure that deadlines are met and pieces required to produce the project are processed in a timely manner. Conceptualize visuals based on project requirements. Prepare rough drafts and present ideas to departments and/or leadership team. Develop collateral using design software or by hand. Collaborate with cross-functional teams and external vendors to create high-impact materials including, but not limited logos, brochures, advertisements, newsletters, social media graphics, invitations and holiday cards, etc. Manage and collaborate with external vendors and departmental staff to create and execute design strategies and publications.
Duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Graphic design for logos, campaigns, publications, and advertisements
- Photography (campus, events as assigned) and photo shoot management.
- File management (photos, logos, layouts).
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Requires two (2) years of postsecondary education and two (2) years of experience working in graphic design. Years of professional experience can substitute for educational requirements. Preference provided for some photography and photo shoot management experience. Preference also given for editing, copy writing and experience using Mac computers in a work environment.
SUCCESSFUL APPLICANTS WILL DEMONSTRATE THE FOLLOWING: Ability to prioritize multiple tasks from concept to completion while managing time appropriately to meet numerous deadlines. Work both independently and with a team-based approach while providing creative and technical contributions to projects. Work well in a multi-cultural and multi-ethnic environment with students, faculty, and Staff. Meet deadlines and budget restraints while working under pressure. Proficient in design, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat, Flash and other Adobe Creative Suite software. Knowledge of font styles, usage and management software. Knowledgeable in color theory. Knowledge of branding and use in creative design. Must possess sound knowledge of creative design principles for print and multimedia. Current technological developments/trends in graphic arts field. Printing, pre-press, and digital output processes; including stock, inks, and preparing files for final production using industry standards. Integrated Marketing customers, and the general public. Extensive knowledge of computer graphics applications on a Mac platform; including Adobe Creative Suite, Flash, Acrobat, font management and digital asset management software. Four color, spot and digital printing principles and prepress requirements. Web design practices and theory. Skilled in creativity, computer graphics techniques, production, and design. Possess strong organizational and communication skills, attention to detail, good spelling and grammar skills. Good interpersonal skills and ability to manage constructive criticism and multiple revisions on projects.
